Our Sustainable Tourism Commitment
For over 10 years, the town of Pornichet has been actively engaged in the ecological transition.
That is why, at the beginning of 2025, we joined the Green Destinations sustainable tourism programme, with a clear ambition: protecting the quality of life of local residents, offering the best possible experience to our visitors, while supporting balanced and responsible economic development.
But what does that actually entail in practice?

In Pornichet, the ocean is far more than a backdrop. It is a fragile balance to protect and a heritage to preserve for future generations.
In 2026, the destination reached a major milestone by receiving the Silver Award from the international Green Destinations programme. This demanding recognition is based on more than 75 criteria, assessing sustainable destination management, environmental preservation, heritage enhancement and the overall quality of the visitor experience.
This distinction makes Pornichet the first destination on the Atlantic coast of France to receive this level of recognition. It reflects a long-standing collective commitment shared by the Municipal Council, the Tourist Office and local stakeholders across the destination.
Pornichet continues to develop a tourism model that balances attractiveness, quality of life and respect for natural resources. An ongoing process of continuous improvement driven by the ambition to create a sustainable and balanced experience for both residents and visitors alike.
Pornichet Tourist Office “classé”
Since 2013, Pornichet Tourist Office has held the prestigious Category I classification, the highest official distinction awarded nationally. This classification is renewed every five years by the French administration, with the latest renewal completed in 2024.
A commitment to service excellence
Pornichet Tourist Office has also held the Qualité Tourisme certification for several years. The certification was renewed in August 2024, achieving an outstanding 96.82% compliance rate against the national quality standards — a clear recognition of service excellence.
In 2026, a mystery audit will be carried out as part of the transition towards the new Destination d’Excellence certification.
