Just a few kilometers from Pornichet, the landscape changes and opens out onto the peaceful immensity of the Brière Regional Nature Park. From the Chaussée Neuve harbor in Saint-André-des-Eaux, Brière guide Jean-Sébastien Crusson invites you to discover the marsh by the water, in an atmosphere conducive to observation and listening.
In the silence of France's second-largest marsh, the traditional boat trip invites you to slow down. Guided and commented, outings last from 45 minutes to an hour. You'll take in the marsh's fauna, flora and shifting landscapes, while the guide shares his knowledge of the area, its uses and balances, forged by daily practice since 1980.
For a variety of viewpoints, you can opt for a combined boat trip and horse-drawn carriage return. This tour, lasting around an hour and a half, alternates water and paths, and allows you to approach the marsh from two complementary angles, always at the slow pace that characterizes the Brière.
The site also offers boat hire without a guide, for self-guided navigation, as well as bicycles, rosalies and ponies for children. A wide range of activities to suit all tastes, while staying as close to nature as possible.
Recognized for the quality and authenticity of its services, Jean-Sébastien Crusson holds the "Valeurs Parc" label, awarded by the Parc naturel régional de Brière. On-site facilities include a picnic area, private parking, restaurant, sanitary facilities, farm animals, exhibition area and plaice fishing. Tailor-made tours can be organized for groups of hikers, and school groups are accredited by the French Ministry of Education.
Discovering La Brière is the perfect complement to a stay in Pornichet. It invites you to change scenery, to slow down even more, and to immerse yourself in a territory shaped by water, time and the transmission of know-how.
