La Boissière du Doré Zoo

Just a stone's throw from Pornichet, the Zoo de la Boissière du Doré offers a green interlude, in a 28-hectare park where nature structures the visit. For over forty years, the site has been developing an approach focused on animal welfare and raising awareness of the need to preserve biodiversity, and today welcomes over 1,100 animals in vast landscaped areas.

You can stroll freely along the paths and immersive enclosures. Take your time to observe, understand and listen. The habitats have been designed to provide the animals with suitable living conditions, while allowing visitors to approach the species without disrupting their environment. Each space becomes an invitation to slow down and take a closer look at wildlife and ecosystems.

Among the highlights of the visit are the vast new areas dedicated to large carnivores. One vast area is home to a pack of Canadian and Alaskan wolves, which can be observed from a specially-designed vantage point. Here, visitors can observe the interactions, movements and social life of these animals, in a verdant, relief-structured setting.

The tour continues through a variety of worlds: areas devoted to endangered felines, large African plains, immersive aviaries where birds, lemurs and saimaris roam free. Each zone tells a different story, yet is all part of a global vision of life and its diversity.

Throughout the day, the educational team offers guided feeding sessions. These exchanges help visitors to better understand the animals' behavior and to take a more informed look at how to protect them. From April to October, a free-flying bird show completes the discovery, offering a moment of contemplation and sharing, accessible to all audiences.

The zoo is also committed to supporting conservation through the Boissière-Mervent Conservation endowment fund. Each admission contributes to this commitment, helping to finance projects dedicated to the protection of species and their natural environments.

To extend the experience, it is possible to spend a night close to the animals, in lodges integrated into the park. This is a different way of experiencing the park, in a calm, immersive setting that is conducive to shared family memories.
