Exhibition of illustrations on old books
For this exhibition at the Sainte-Marguerite chapel, Pierre-Yves Bonnot invites the public to come and discover his poetic world around nature.
A graduate of the Duperré School of Applied Arts in Paris, drawing and working with color were integral parts of Pierre-Yves Bonnot's life from an early age.
The illustrations presented are original works, painted in gouache enhanced with pencil on antique paper: award ceremony books, atlases, staff maps, wallpapers, etc. This approach is part of a desire to transform and enhance objects destined for discard.
The nature of the text, the outdated typography, the yellowed grain of the paper, and the unexpected motif of a trace of moisture are all poetic elements that fuel the artist's imagination and strengthen his graphic approach.
