Film club: “The Lady from Shanghai“

Once a month, the volunteers at the La Toile de Mer cinema offer a chance to revisit a cinematic masterpiece on the big screen, which will be introduced and discussed.

This April, the monthly film club is showing "The Lady from Shanghai" in a restored 4K print! This Orson Welles film was released in 1947 and stars Rita Hayworth, Orson Welles, Everett Sloane, and others.

Synopsis

In Cuba, Michael, an Irish sailor looking for work, saves a young woman, Elsa, from an attack. Elsa's husband, a famous lawyer, invites Michael to join him on his yacht for a cruise to San Francisco. Elsa and Michael fall in love, and Grisby, Bannister's partner, notices their romance. He wants to disappear and offers Michael $5,000 to sign a document confessing to his murder.
